My training began with a degree in Geography at the University of Cambridge, followed by work as a Parliamentary Researcher before returning to Cambridge to complete a PhD on philosophies of social justice and environmental design. As a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, I explored how questions of ethics and ecology shape our built and imagined environments.
Alongside my studies, I had the great fortune to meet the community architect Kay Jordan as well as artists Issam Kourbaj and Candelaria Capurro Ferrer, whose pioneering Group C offered a space within which to nurture my artistic practice. Life-long friendships and connection with Robert Loder, co-founder of the Triangle Arts Trust, and with Stella Norman remain generative and loving forces in my life, for which I am deeply grateful.
During the final year of my PhD, I embarked on a Diploma in Landscape Architecture at the University of the West of England. This marked a shift from studying places to co-creating them. My early work included collaborations with the Institute of Education, the National Trust, the Centre for Accessible Environments, and the Liverpool Architecture and Design Trust, co-designing public spaces that foster inclusion and dialogue between people and place.
My practice extended to encompass hospitals, schools, museums, regenerative estates, private gardens, urban planning and community-led projects. Each year, my dedication to design as a co-creative and ethical practice deepens - a journey of opening to new possibilities of life-affirming change.
Most recently, my work has been strengthened by training in systemic leadership and constellations with the Whole Partnership. My on-going role as an Honorary Research Associate with the Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience at Coventry University also provides an international community with whom to reflect on and deepen my practice.
Alongside my design consultancy, I have the honour to work as a partner within my family’s mixed farm.
